Courtney is the second child and only daughter born to Daniel and Keri Covington in 1994. As a member of the Covington family, she was part of New York City's elite. She is close to both of her brothers, whom she both adore. Her whole world came to a halt when her mother was diagnosed with late-stage breast cancer. And despite intensive chemotherapy treatments and visits with top-notch specialists, her mother succumbed to the disease.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Business School, she accompanied her father on the move to his hometown of Radcliffe, Kentucky. She possesses her father's acumen for business despite her father wanting her older brother to take over the company when he retires.

Courtney first appeared in Episode 1 signing up for horse riding lessons at the stables where she first met Esther Saunders and Steven Sullivan. She initially lied about who she was since she knew about the rivalry between their families. She found herself attracted to Steven, who is twenty years older. Their conflict over being from families with sorted history had an effect on their romance, including their parents conspiring to break them up by arranging Steven's ex-wife Lorraine kiss him as she walks in on them. Furious with her father led her to temporarily move out of Home Farm. But she and her father in due course patched things up between them. Courtney wasn't supportive of Max's engagement with working-class Shauna Jackson, knowing that Antoine Hall, Shauna's ex, still had a thing for her. With Shauna's reassurance of truly loving her brother, she accepted their marriage and even was a bridesmaid in the ceremony.

She was taken back when her boyfriend informed her of not wanting to get married again. Courtney has been supportive of Steven and the rest of the Saunders family through the death of his uncle, Peter. Whilst, trying to climb the ranks as a young executive at the company that bears her name.
