Skye was raised as the only child of nurse Eleanor Park in Austin, Texas. She is the product of a love affair between Reverend Joel Friendly and Eleanor during their missionary work in Cambodia. When Eleanor discovered she was pregnant, she chose not to disrupt Joel’s life with a child, though she was always honest with Skye about her paternity.

Tragically, Eleanor passed away in 2024 from an aneurysm, after which Skye moved to Houston to live with her maternal grandmother. Determined to find her father, Skye used her mother’s Facebook account to contact Joel, posing as Eleanor. She then traveled to Radcliffe, where Joel was initially taken aback by the young goth's revelation. A DNA test confirmed paternity, and Joel welcomed Skye into his home, where the two have since formed a strong bond.

Skye befriends fellow teenagers Gemma Grier and Micah Kelley, though she frequently clashes with her peer Evan Sullivan.
