TOWN & COUNTRY: RECAP 2018
The first year of the series started off with the 45th Wedding Anniversary of the show's longest married couple Peter and Sarah Lynn Saunders. Their friends and family surprised them with a party. Excited over seeing their youngest daughter Martha on their doorstep who was away chasing her dreams of music stardom in Los Angeles.
The two had suspicions that she was hiding something from them unbeknownst to them they didn't know how life-changing it was. Martha now broke and without much success as a singer returns home to Radcliffe unsure of how to deal with her unexpected pregnancy by Murray Hirsch, the nephew of her manager. She finally gathered enough courage to tell her parents about her pregnancy but not before her older sister Louise found out on her own.
The two have never been close as siblings due to their age span and other insecurities. Louise advised her that if she wanted to that she would have the support of her family to see her through. When she told her parents about her pregnancy. Sarah Lynn offered her love and guidance whilst Peter displayed his disappointment that his little girl is knocked up and hadn't told the father of her baby. However, the rest of the Saunders family showed their support to Martha. It took a hospital visit when Martha passed out due to dehydration when Peter recognized his own failings telling her he'll be there for her and his grandchild. Martha gained part-time employment at The Waterfall and is nearing the end of her pregnancy with a baby boy on the way.
2018 also marked the return of the wealthy Covington family to Radcliffe. It's no secret that the Covington and the Saunders families have been having an ongoing feud for decades. New York born and bred Courtney Covington signs up to take horseback riding lessons from Esther Saunders at her stables. It is where she meets thirty-something Veterinarian and Esther's son Steven Sullivan. They automatically click with one another, despite him keeping the fact that he recently gotten a divorce and has a five-year-old son who he is estranged with. Courtney, herself is hiding the fact that she is a Covington already knowing the rivalry between their families

Daniel Covington moves back into his palatial family estate Home Farm with his children. The millionaire widower CEO of Covington Group didn't waste any time to stick his claim into the twenty-percent of Franklin Farm he inherited from his late father. Yet, Peter and Esther fought with him over it. Daniel didn't back down wanting to be hands on the business side of the dairy farm. Esther couldn't take a Covington involved in her family's land, so she decided to buy the shares. He didn't want to sell them to her, but he wanted her to find a way to break up the relationship with their children any means necessary.

Esther decided to go to Lexington to get her ex-daughter-in-law Lorraine Sullivan to come to Radcliffe with their son Evan to let Steven see his child, or she her with convince her son to gain custody of him. Steven was happy to see his little boy, but Courtney wasn't keen on having Lorraine around. Her suspicions would be proven true once Daniel came to Lorraine making a deal if she made out with her ex-husband so that Courtney could walk in on them he would give her an audition to the prestigious American Ballet Theatre. Lorraine nearly was close to doing it until the last minute she told the couple. Courtney being upset confronted her father over what he did. It made her rent a suite at the Miller Inn. Nonetheless, the two of them have managed to stay together. Lorraine leaves town when she gets a job teaching dance at an exclusive performing arts high school in Orlando.
Louise Saunders Lockhart has been in an open marriage with her husband Sean Lockhart for years now. They keep it a secret from their teenage twin daughters Tanner and Lynn. But all of that changes when Tanner overhears Sean telling his mistress Tricia that he loves her and that he cannot wait until they can be together. She tells Lynn who does not react well to the news which prompts her to throw an unsupervised house party where she got drunk and telling her father that she knew that he was cheating on their mother. Realizing the effect on the girls and advice from Daniel, Louise decided to finally end her twenty-year marriage.
Shauna Jackson, the granddaughter of local bar landlady, Mae Jackson graduated from Sampson University with the hopes of professional and personal highs. She let down her best friend and occasional lover Antoine Hall. In spite of Antoine wanting a serious relationship, he has a past of not being committed. Hired as the interior decorator for Home Farm. she instantly bumped heads with Daniel's eldest son Max who returned to the states after working on a cruise ship for six months. However, their relationship softened as the two developed feelings for one another. They ended up becoming a couple in which Antoine did not take to kindly. He himself met law school student Nichelle Austin when he accidentally ran into her car. Later they start dating under the guise of making Shauna envious.
Tanner, Lynn, and their lifelong best friend Elijah Barker became friendly with Tommy, the teenage son of Daniel who was kicked out of his Massachusetts boarding school for having sex with a female student past curfew in her dorm room. Daniel decided to teach him a lesson by sending him to public school and intern after school at the Covington Group. Tommy is adamant about giving his driver's license so he enlisted the help of Lynn who told him that she will help him by getting someone to teach him to drive since she is grounded and not permitted behind the wheel for skipping too many classes. Begrudgingly, Tanner decides to help him out on behest of her twin sister.
