  • Jordan was determined to make Tommy hers by any means necessary.

  • Louise decided to be only friends with Daniel.

  • Antoine isn't keen on Will's presence since he gotten out of prison.

THE WATERFALL BAR

In a little over two hours, patrons will be venturing into the bar for the annual New Year's Eve party; so far, the establishment is absorbed in black and gold decorations, including black and gold balloons, plastic table cloths, and banners with 2021, giving off the ambiance of being the place to be. Mae Jackson, along with Antoine Hall, enters the room from the apartment upstairs.

Mae gestures with her hands to the bar. "I must say you two did a good job with the set-up down here."

Will Jackson catches his mother's attention by winking at her. He is behind the bar, stocking it up with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. "I think she meant she surprised you and me ain't killed each other."

"Don't tempt me," Antoine replies

The two men have never been close, especially since Antoine tried to seek out any wrongdoing Will was apart of when he got out of prison last year. It didn't help matters of Will's indirect involvement of getting his niece kidnapped and held for ransom by his former cellmate whom he used to sell drugs for, And not to mention one of the cellmate's guys aiming a gun at Antoine himself in the parking lot outside of The Waterfall didn't make him see him in the best light,

"All right now!" Mae says. She gives both stern looks to both men. "I won't be having none of that, especially tonight. Anyway, Antoine, I think having all those young people is going to pack this place this evening."

A month ago, Antoine suggested to her that they should bring in more of a younger set for New Year's this year; since a lot of them our local, all they need to be seventeen with proper ID at the door,

Unbeknownst to them, Will is rolling his eyes over his momma, giving praise to the boy she and his daddy took in all those years ago when his momma didn't want him anymore.

Mae looks up at the large clock on the wall behind the bar. "Well, let's finish getting ready they'll be here before you know it,"

MILLER INN : SUITE 330

If you would've tried to convince Emma Covington a week ago, she would've patched things up with her lothario fiancé. She would've bet half of her eighty-million dollar trust fund for that outcome. Nonetheless, on Christmas, the two found themselves unable to resist each other.  Since their reconciliation, Emma has been staying in his hotel suite where they have been making up for "lost time,"

Getting, herself dressed in a black embellished mini dress that shows off her voluptuous body. She smirks at her overall appearance before she reaches the door. Her ears begin to hear faint sounds of Jacques's voice in the suite. As she steps out of the bathroom, he turns to check his fiancée out as his ear is to his phone.

Martha puts on her heels on the end of the king-size bed.

Finally, in connection with the person over the phone, Jacques starts to speak.

"Je sais que c’est difficile, mais ça ne va pas prendre beaucoup plus de temps pour que je l’épouse, ce qui va me faire reculer mon père. Tant qu’on en aura assez de ses relations. Signifie plus d’affaires dans les États."

ENGLISH, I know this is difficult, but it isn't going to take much longer for me to marry her, which will get my father off my damn back as long as we get enough of her connections, meaning more business in the states.

Emma listens to him as he speaks in his native language; Emma gets off the bed to search for her black pearl necklace on the nightstand.

Jacques walks further away from his lover so he can have some privacy.

"Je te promets que dans les six mois, le mariage entre elle et moi sera fini et que toi et moi pourrons être ensemble. Mais bébé, on doit juste faire profil bas quand je rentrer à Paris. Ne sois pas comme ça, je t’aime. Je dois passer au revoir."

ENGLISH, "I promise you within six months of marriage, between me and her will be over, and then you and I can be together. But baby, we just got to lay low when I get back to Paris. Don't be like that. I love you. I got to go bye."

He concludes the phone call.

By now, Emma is all set for them to have dinner in town, and they will return to the suite where they will bring in the new year themselves.

"All ready to go?" he inquires.

Emma smirks coquettishly. "T’es plein de merde!"

ENGLISH, You're so full of shit!

Not, even hiding his shock as to why she said it to him. He places both of his hands onto his waist. "You misunderstood me, Cheri,"

Emma scoffs ruefully. "Oh, I don't think so, not only I lived in Paris for years. But I've been speaking French fluently since Bill Clinton was in the White House, so please tell me the truth you at least owe me that Jacques."

"All right, all right," he says hastily. "My family's shipping company hasn't been doing well,"

"And you couldn't tell me this because?"

"Because I grew up in a family that the man takes care of the woman. Furthermore, my father wanted to expand business stateside."

"Let me guess, because of my family's connections and resources you, thought hey marry the rich American only for you to continue to screw any woman  just as long you get what you wanted right,"

Jacques shakes his head. "Since the truth is out now can you forgive me; we don't have to let this ruin our night,"

Emma slaps him across his face. She snatches her purse off the nightstand and heads towards the door.

"Emma, where are you going?"

"You don't think I want to be in the same room as you with everything I know, right?" she asks rhetorically. "One thing you need to learn about me, Jacques. I don't take too kindly to men using me."

When Jacques is about to utter something else, she cuts him off verbally. "Read my lips, we're over," she then tosses the ruby ring at him. "Someone will come for the rest of my stuff." Emma gets herself out of the suite towards the elevator bank.

VICTORY COTTAGE

'Can't Fight' by Lianne La Havas comes through Aaliyah Gupta's iPhone, which is sitting on the marble countertop in the bathroom of the residential cottage she and her family moved in last summer from Chicago.

Aaliyah is applying foundation on the face of her friend Lenny Lockhart who is standing in the mirror. Beside her is her twin sister Tanner Lockhart who is putting on her earrings. The three are currently using the space as their dressing room to get ready to go out to The Waterfall to bring in 2021.

"Are you done yet?" Lynn inquiries impatiently

"Almost, now hold still, you're going to look great, and when Elijah sees you, he is going to want to be all over you," Aaliyah says confidently. "How are things going between you and Covington, Tanner?"

"Trying to put everything that happened last year behind us," Tanner replies

On Christmas, Tanner forgave Tommy for the indiscretion he made the previous summer by kissing Jordan. In addition to the romantic gesture, he had with help from Aaliyah, who played their song on her phone.

Lynn dips her head somewhat, knowing her sister does not know Tommy also had slept with Jordan this October in Hawaii.

Tanner gives herself a decent look over in the mirror. "Speaking of boys, how is it going between Lorenzo and you, Aaliyah?"

Aaliyah elicits a wide grin at the sound of his name. The two had gotten closer over the last month. "I can't wait for him to come back next week,"

Lorenzo went home to Philadelphia to celebrate the holidays with his family and friends.

The pinging of the doorbell chimes gets all three of their attention.

"We're coming!" Aaliyah shouts out

Tommy and Elijah were picking them up, so they all can head to the bar together.

Aaliyah sets aside the bottle of the foundation along with the brush on the counter. "And I'm done!"

Lynn looks at herself, which draws interest in how good she does look via the makeup. "Damn! If the design career doesn't pan out, you have this whole cosmetics thing down."

The young woman cracks a smile at her friend's compliment.

The doorbell continues to ring.

"I think we're all set, ladies," Tanner says

The three head out of the bathroom on their way down the stairs,

THE CHATEAU

Louise Saunders Lockhart steps inside the fine-dining restaurant where she views a male saxophonist playing on the stage in front of the customers toasting in the New Year's. She, on the other hand, was at the bar to pick up her take out for one to take home to consume,

"Louise!"

The mention of her name makes her swing around to the person behind her who called her.

Daniel Covington wearing a navy velvet sport coat and slacks, look as if he stepped out of the cover of GQ. Louise does her best to remain casual with her teenage sweetheart. Last time the two had an awkward encounter at his 45th birthday party.

"Daniel, how are you?"

"Mala and I are having dinner, and I got fed up with the slow wait service, so I decided to get some drinks for us."

Louise should not be surprised to hear since he and the British Architect have been getting closer as a couple. She had a chance to get involved with him again. Nonetheless, she turned him down out of the grief of losing her father.

"You having dinner here too?"

A female bartender gives the eldest Saunders daughter her bag of food.

"Deciding to take advantage of having the house to myself," Louise answers.

Daniel folds his arms. "All of our children are out tonight; time flies by, doesn't it?"

Louise nods. "I better get going, but you have a good night, and I will see you in 2021,"

"Hopefully, it will be a better year for everyone," Daniel says

So much is unsaid between them even when Daniel returns with the two alcoholic beverages to the table.

"I forgot to tell you Jai got the divorce papers," Mala informs him.

"Really?"

Mala and her ex-husband have been separated for years now. And most recently, she decided to finally end her marriage, which hadn't been easy due to the many years they were together.

"Sounds like your new year is already getting off to a good start," he acknowledges.

The two clink their glasses as a symbolic gesture of moving on.

THE WATERFALL BAR

'Laugh Now Cry Later' by Drake ft. Lil Durk is playing as the party is underway, with several crowding inside the bar.

Sean and Tricia Lockhart are sitting down in the booth in the back.

"This place is packed," Sean says over the loud noise.

"I'm sure Mae does not mind, in terms of business," Tricia remarks.

Ever since the two had their disagreement at JoJo's regarding their differing stance over Tommy kissing Jordan. Even though he is involved with Sean's daughter. Nonetheless, Tricia is keeping the bomb that Tommy and Jordan slept together when they were all in Oahu on the night of their wedding ceremony,

"Can we make a promise going into the new year we talk things out instead of letting them fester?" Tricia points out

Tricia is trying to take words from her friend Samuel who gave her advice when the two of them were here the week before Christmas.

Sean takes a hearty drink out of his beer bottle. "That sounds like a plan,"

Tanner, Tommy, Elijah, Lynn, and Aaliyah all enter into the bar after getting their ID's checked at the door,

"You go get us a table, and we get food and drinks," Elijah says

"Don't have to tell me twice," Lynn says

The three women go off, leaving Tommy and Elijah to find a spot to stand at the bar.

Tommy turns his head to his friend. "Glad everything is back to normal."

Elijah clears his throat when he sees someone familiar heading their way. "Be careful what you wish for man,"

Jordan McKnight comes over to them in a low-back sleeveless sequin dress. As usual, her perfect physique makes her stand out from the crowd. She is holding on to a clutch bag, and her long blonde hair is in large curls.

"Tommy, can I talk to you?" Jordan says

Tommy glances to the back, where he sees his girlfriend along with his friends at a table laughing about something; he then focuses back on her,

"What is it?"

Jordan pouts her full lips. "I need to talk to you alone,"

"Look, I owe up to my part in what happened between us, but we can no longer be together, not as friends or anything else," Tommy replies. "I'm sorry,"

She gazes at the floor before looking up again. Without saying a word, she marches towards the door.

Elijah gives him a look of understanding as Tommy, and he is next to make their order at the bar.

With no place else to go, Emma plops herself down on the stool at the bar.

"Tequila shots and keep em comin," the Covington heiress demands.

"Can you handle it?" a somewhat cocky voice arose from behind the bar.

Emma lifts her head. "Oh, it's you. I thought this day couldn't get any worse,"

"Lemme guess, the jewelry store is all sold out," he teases her.

"No, but it did sell out those tacky bracelets you got your mother for Christmas, she counters ruefully.

This year he had purchased his mother a gold bracelet for her Christmas present.

The easy-going bearing on Will's face is gone. "Tequila, coming up,"

"Dad, I'm okay,"

Tanner was making her way out of the restroom to wash her hands. When she ran into her father, who wanted to speak with her regarding her decision to forgive Tommy,

"I know how upset you were when you found out about your so-called boyfriend making out with your former best friend," Sean says

"Dad, yes, I remember, I understand you care about me, but it's my choice to move on with Tommy. Besides, you have no right to be bashing Tommy since you had an affair with Tricia when you were married to mom."

Sean shakes his head at his daughter, comparing his unfaithfulness with Tricia to Tommy with Jordan.

"Is everything okay here?" Tommy asks. He had witnessed his girlfriend's interaction with her father from the table.

"Yes, it is," she tells her boyfriend.  I love you, dad," Tanner plants a kiss on her father's cheek before taking off to the table, leaving the two men there with so much to be said.

"If you hurt my little girl again, you're going to answer to me, you hear me, boy,"

Tommy manages to smile charismatically. "Sir, I have no intention to be the cause of any heartbreak for Tanner. You have a good night,"

"Hey, was Jordan here earlier?" Tricia inquiries to her stepdaughters and their friends.

She thought she saw her younger friend from the corner of her eye a few moments ago. She had wanted to talk to her, but by the time she got the chance, she hadn't seen her in the crowded bar.

"I guess you did," Lynn says

"I don't have time for your sarcasm right now, Lynn," her stepmother answers back.

"She was in here earlier, but last time I saw her, she was going out the door," Elijah informs

Tricia goes back to the booth, where she grabs her coat before heading towards the door.

"Can you somebody explain to me how those two became friends?" Aaliyah poses at her friends.

Tanner takes a sip of her coke. "I think we're still trying to find that out for ourselves, Aaliyah,"

Telma Hopkins.jpg

The ringing of the brass bell by Mae behind the bar gets everyone's undivided attention.

"That means it is almost midnight, but before we countdown. I just want to let everyone know I appreciate the generosity you have given this place since we've been here. Second I want to thank Antoine for convincing me to allow the Gen-Z crowd in tonight."

Rounds of applause break out as Antoine remains unbothered by the dedication he is receiving. Nonetheless, Will is taking another shot glass away from Emma, who is tipsy from the tequila is once again feeling passed over by someone who isn't even really kin.

Mae continues. "We all hope and pray for a better 2021; it's near midnight," she announces excitedly.

10-9: The customers begin to countdown.

8: At home, Louise is in bed eating alone watching; Ryan Seacrest hosting New Year's Rockin Eve on TV.

7-6: Emma tries to get another shot from Will, who has cut her off due to her being drunk.

5: In Daniel's bedroom at Home Farm, he and Mala have passionate sex in his bed.

4: Tricia can catch up with Jordan, who is surprisingly standing outside the entrance in the dark wearing her faux fur coat.

"Hey, I thought I saw you,"

Jordan looks up, her face glistening with moisture from the tears she has been crying.

"Jordan, what's wrong?"

3-2-1

"Happy New Year's!" the crowd all cheer out in unison.

Auld Lang Syne plays overhead in the bar.

Emma watches as various people begin hugging and kissing their loved ones. She stares at Will, who is wiping down the counter in front of him.

"God, I must bb-be desperate, " she slurs her words.

Emma leans in over the bar to put her lips to his. Will is about to pull back when he kisses her back. The two of them let go of each other.

"If you tell anybody about-t this... I will deny it."

Tommy and Tanner are in an embrace,

"I love you," Tanner says to him.

"I love you too, and I promise nothing will ever come between us again," Tommy swears.

Outside, Tricia is still trying to get to the reason why Jordan is crying,

"Look, I know you wished things worked out so you and Tommy could've gotten together, but you're a beautiful girl who is worth more than Tommy Covington."

She puts both of her hands onto her friend's shoulders to comfort her.

"I wish for a lot of things, but this wasn't one of them --- Tricia, I'm pregnant," Jordan begins to cry as Tricia hugs her friends astounded herself to hear it herself.
