FRANKLIN FARM : MAIN HOUSE

Esther Saunders had not only found the one woman she cannot stand in all eternity standing in her own home. But that same woman's granddaughter is set to marry her son. Meaning The Covington and Saunders families will have another connection to each other. And for Esther, it is one too damn many.

Stepping outside of the house into the brisk autumn early evening in which she follows Dee, who is getting to her son's BMW, she borrowed.

"What were you doing here, Deirdre?" Esther asks. "And don't lie to me."

Deirdre Covington turns around to face her former best friend with a smirk. "If you must know Esther, I was giving my condolences to Sarah Lynn on the loss of Peter."

Esther chuckles at the response waving her hand at the comment. "What is up with you using the people in my family to get what you want?" she replies.  First, you dated my brother, and then he dumps you, which you never got over, and then you sought affection from my father even though you were married."

Deirdre pulls the car door open, rolling her eyes in the process. "Call me any name in the book if you want to, but whether you like it or not, your son and my granddaughter are getting married."

With one last look of satisfaction, the petite millionaire widow starts the car and quickly pulls off down the road leaving Esther standing in front of the house, resisting the urge to throw a rock at the vehicle.

"Hi Daddy," Courtney Covington happily addresses her father in his office on the twentieth floor of the Covington tower in Downtown Radcliffe this Sunday afternoon.

She puts her arms around her father in a parent-child embrace.

"Welcome back," he greets her receptively.

He then lets go of her when he notices Steven Sullivan is also in the room. Sticking out his hand in which his daughter's older boyfriend shakes respectively,

"So, how was the trip?" Daniel inquiries

"Other than witnessing my cousin's ex-husband tie the knot with his former mistress, it was pleasant," Steven remarks

Courtney shoots her fiancée a look before focusing back on her father. "It was so good to get away - Dad, I have something to tell you, and I don't know how you're going take it."

Her father crosses his arms and leans against the desk. "You're not pregnant, are you?"

Courtney shakes her head. "No," While we were in Oahu, Steven asked me to marry him, and I've accepted."

Daniel does not hide the fact he is taken-back by hearing this information. "I did not see this coming," he admits. "Since the last time, the topic of marriage was on the table. Steven was strongly adamant against it. So what has changed now?"

"Daniel, look, you're right. I was against another marriage, but after what all happened this year. I've realized life is too short, but most importantly is that I love your daughter and want her to become my wife." Steven says strongly

The Covington patriarch expresses contemplation of his words. "Steven, if you wouldn't mind, may I please speak with my daughter alone?" he says more of a command than a request.

Courtney is about to refuse when Steven verbally informs him it is fine knowing Daniel wouldn't be jumping up and down in excitement for his daughter's happiness. Steven kisses her warmly before he leaves out of the office.

"Daddy," Courtney says

"Are you sure is this what you want?" Daniel demands

THE WATERFALL BAR

If Shauna Covington had it her way, she would be at home putting her purchases from the mall away and relax. However, Emma wasn't in the mood to go back to the estate. So she suggested they come to get a drink or two at her family's bar. The local establishment was quickly filling up with the evening crowd. Donell Jones U Know What's Up is currently on the sound system.

She leads her Aunt by marriage to the bar where her grandmother just served two customers with their drinks. The sheer joy of seeing her granddaughter is written all over her face.

The two women hug each other across the counter.

"Grandma, you remember, Max's, Aunt Emma."

"You could've left the "Aunt" off. Aunt Emma sounds like someone who bakes cookies and watches game shows all day." the Covington heiress lightly protests.

Mae Jackson recalled Daniel's sister arriving at his surprise birthday party in a helicopter. "I sure do remember how are you?" she greets with her usual sense of hospitality.

"You got a good place here, Mrs. Jackson," Emma proclaims

"Thanks, and please call me Mae," the older woman says. "Drinks on the house,"

Emma nods. "I like it here better and better." A Manhattan please?"

"You know what. I take one too," Shauna says fearlessly.

Mae assures them they're drinks will be given to them momentarily. The two grab a table near the center of the room.

Not long after, someone familiar comes to bring them their drinks.

"Hey, long time no see," Antoine Hall tells Shauna.

"I can say the same thing about you," Shauna declares

The last encounter they had was when Shauna was still dealing with the effects of being held hostage by Jerome Hawkins, Chaz Rollo, and Mario Walds. He had helped her to see she needed help regarding her problems, which is why she is scheduled to see a therapist next week.

Shauna finds herself making another round of introductions. Emma smirks at the male bartender.

"I'll be at the bar if you need me," Antoine informs them.

"We'll be right here," Emma says suggestively.

Antoine licks his lips at the woman before taking off.

"So, is the wedding still set for next year?" Shauna asks, trying to strike a conversation.

Emma sucks in her lips before taking a drink of the alcohol. "We shall see," she answers.

Her fiancé is Jacques Laurent, heir of a billion-dollar shipping fortune. The two hadn't known each other long before they got serious with one another.

"You miss him?"

Emma takes strands of her brown hair behind her hair. "I do, but he is busy with work," she says with finality in her voice.

Silently Shauna takes a few sips of her beverage, wondering why she refuses to talk about her fiancé.

HOME FARM

Opening the front door of the main house on the Home Farm Estate, Tommy Covington is relieved to see his best friend, Elijah Barker. "Man, I'm glad to see you. I fucked up big time,"

Elijah, who has a look of discomfort, enters the house, following Tommy into the living room. "Yes, you did," Elijah replies. "Do you know where I just left?" he jabs his finger behind him.

Tommy shakes his head vehemently.

"At Franklin Farm hearing from Tanner and my girlfriend about not only Jordan flying to Oahu. But you confessed to Tanner you kissed her last year."

"How is Tanner?" Tanner asks concernedly

"How in the heck you think she is; she is in pieces, which I feel I have contributed to since I kept it from her too."

Tommy had confided in Elijah about the sensual kiss the two had aboard the yacht on Labor Day Weekend last year during the reception of his brother's wedding. He never thought about him being implicated in the mess of his life until now.

"I did something I wish I could take back,"

Elijah takes a seat on the expansive couch. "Please don't tell me what I think you're about to say, man,"

"I slept with Jordan,"

With her mother upstairs taking a shower, and her sister and nieces left to go home. Martha Saunders is in the living room reading the latest edition of Montage while looking up every so often, seeing her son holding his stuffed animals in the Pack' N Play a few feet away.

Using his key, Steven unlocks the door to the house.

Martha sets aside the magazine on the coffee table. "Hey, how did Daniel take the news of you two heading up the aisle?"

Steven puts his coat on the rack near the door. "Let's just say he won't be throwing me a bachelor party anytime soon."

"Sorry, babe,"

Her cousin waves to his godson as he joins her. "I shouldn't expect anything different from that man,"

"Well, you love his daughter, and he is pretty territorial when it comes to Courtney."

Steven scratches the back of his head. "I get it. I mean, as a parent, you don't want your child to make huge life mistakes. "But Martha, what I feel for Courtney is real. And I know I did not want to get married months ago, but I'm ready."

"Steven, I know you love her, don't let anyone, including Daniel Covington, get in the way of the life you two want," Martha candidly advises. She then snaps her fingers as she remembers something of importance.

"What is it?"

"When Deirdre came over here earlier today, she dropped off some flowers for my mother."

Martha takes the small card out of the pocket of her pants and hands it to him.

At first, Steven doesn't see anything peculiar about it until he recalls finding the letter in the attic detailing the affair that their late grandfather had many years ago.

"This means --"

"Dee is the one who had the affair with granddad Jimmy," Martha interjects

At the top of the staircase, Esther looks down, having overheard the conclusion her son and niece have rightfully put together. "Damn that woman," she swears to herself.

HOME FARM

"I told you to stay away from Jordan, and now you're telling me you have jeopardized your relationship with your girlfriend by screwing the one person she hates." Elijah Scoffs

Tommy remains standing behind one of the chairs. "I know I messed up big time. I already got the lecture from Max."

"And who's to say Jordan is not going to tell everybody about finally getting you to herself,"

"She wouldn't do that," Tommy says. He then instantly regrets the words coming out of his mouth.

"And once again, I'm keeping something huge from one of my oldest friends,"

Tommy knows he is putting his friend in a tight spot, but he does not want everything to come out.

"I still love Tanner. Please don't say anything," he says seriously.

Elijah exhales roughly; as he gets on his feet. "Get your crap together," he states. "I'll talk to you later."

As Tommy sees his friend; walking out of the house to his car. He slowly realizes how much of a colossal mistake was made that night in Jordan's hotel room.

COVINGTON GROUP

Lexi Ainsworth as Courtney Covington.jpg
Daniel Cosgrove as Daniel Covington.jpg

Courtney knew her father wasn't going to acceptive of the decision of her marrying Steven.

"Dad, we came here to tell you good news, but you can't help but see it another way," Courtney says

Daniel takes a seat behind his desk. "As your father, I want the very best for you, and I'm not going to apologize if I don't think Steven Sullivan is good enough for you."

Courtney throws both of her hands in the air. "In the two and a half years we have dating one another, he hasn't been unfaithful even if someone wanted him to be," she shoots back.

Daniel had conspired with Steven's ex-wife Lorraine to ruin their relationship for her to get an audition for the New York Ballet Company. However, Courtney walked in on them, where her fiancé's ex-wife confessed everything to them at the eleventh hour. It heavily affected her relationship with her father when she temporarily moved out of the estate until they reconciled.

Daniel realizes he isn't going to win today with his daughter's stubbornness. "Just don't rush into anything; can you promise me that?"

Courtney hikes up her purse on her shoulder. "Dad, I've always admired and respected you, but I'm marrying the man I love whether you support my decision or not,"

She gives him one last glance before she turns on her heels to walk out of the suite to the elevator.

Daniel remains sitting, knowing it would not do any good to go after her. He hopes she comes to her senses before it's too late.
