Last Time On Town and Country
-
Tanner confronted Tommy over him sleeping with Jordan, which got her pregnant. She soon left with Tommy to go to the hospital when they found out the newborn baby was in poor health.
-
The doctor later informed that the baby needed a procedure to seal a sizable hole in his heart.
-
Meanwhile, at Courtney and Steven's fourth of July engagement party. A drunk Shauna is looked out by Antoine, which causes Max to lash out.
-
Jordan had been dealing with rough emotions since giving birth.
-
Mala witnessed Jai and Louise get closer.
HILLSDALE COUNTY HOSPITAL
Even though a part of him is aware, he should be somewhere trying to make amends with Tanner. Tommy Covington instead is sitting in an uncomfortable chair in the waiting room of the pediatric floor of Hillsdale County Hospital, waiting for news of his newly born son's procedure to repair the damage in his heart. The nearly empty room also has Tricia Lockhart sitting across from him unsure, of what to do next, while his father is sitting next to him, informing Gabriella on the phone that he isn't going to make it home tonight. Yesterday, he would've torn out of here by now to plead for Tanner's forgiveness, but something inside of him telling him not to abandon his son right now despite him doing so for months now.

The sight of Dr. Wesson gets both Daniel and Tricia on their feet as they too wait for him to give them what they all hope is an encouraging prognosis.
"How is my grandson?" Daniel inquiries.
Tommy isn't sure, but he can swear he spotted Tricia rolling her eyes at that comment.
The handsome mid-thirties physician displays a warm smile. "Fortunately, we were able to seal the hole with the cardiac catheterization,"

A wave of relief is expressed variously by the three of them.
"So, what's next?" Tommy asks
"Well, the most important thing now is his recovery which should take several hours, and if everything goes according to plan, he will be released from here in a few days."
"Thank you so much," Tricia tells the doctor.
"Yeah, thank you," Tommy offers genuinely.
Dr. Wesson presses the medical tablet onto his chest. "He is recovering in the NNICU, which is down the hall; you'll be able to see him, but please make it two at a time."

Another round of gratitude is delivered to him while Tommy is now on the search for Tanner. But he feels someone's hand on his shoulder, which makes him turn around to see it is his father.

"Remember who is your priority," he says warningly.
Tricia remains standing in the waiting room when Dr. Wesson gets her attention. "I just wanted to let you know one of the nurses tending to Ms. McKnight told me she is suffering from a bout of post-partum, which is quite common for new mothers, especially with an ill newborn."
Concern spread upon her face, gathering from the doctor's voice; it sounds much serious than she anticipates.
"All I'm saying is that she can use a friend right now," the physician notifies her.
"I will go see her now; thanks for letting me know."
With a parting glance, Dr. Wesson takes off in the opposite direction of the wing, leaving Tricia on her way to the elevator bank.

Remaining still in a short distance, Daniel processes what he overheard from the conversation between the doctor and Tricia before he heads down the corridor without being noticed.
Tanner Lockhart managed to find a place near the entrance of the rural hospital in White Oak to wait on Lynn to come to pick her up. She already has spent too much time here feeling like the fifth wheel. It's not every day you find out that your boyfriend got your ex-best friend pregnant on the night you were planning to lose your virginity to that same boyfriend. She couldn't bear to speak to him right now, although it means she is leaving her suitcase in his car. Still, she doesn't care about that right now; all she wants to do is go and never come back,

She is sitting on the bench near a potted plant and the security desk.
The automatic door opens with Lynn Lockhart entering the hospital with a brown leather mini bag around her neck. It is one of the few purses her sister owns.
It doesn't take long for her to find her.
Tanner quickly gets on her feet, facing her sister. "Hey, can we go?" she says as it is more of a demand than a request.
"Yeah, what's going on?"

Lynn had got the call from her sister to make the two-hour drive to get her while she was at their cousin's engagement party.
As Tanner sniffs, Lenny begins to notice her sister's eyes are red and puffy, and her face is glistening with tears, meaning only one thing.
She knows about the baby.
"I will tell you everything in detail when we get in the car, but all you need to know is that Jordan's baby is Tommy's."
A sense of her doesn't know how to react since she has known this for months now. The times she has gotten close to tell her something would always get in the way.
"Let's just get out of here, please," Tanner says again.
The fraternal twins walk side by side out of the building to the parking deck outside.

HOME FARM
Max Covington was looking for his wife; he didn't like the way they left things earlier. It seems him working at Covington. And her being needy, the causes of their ongoing marital issues they have been having for a while now. So the last thing he expects is to find Shauna in the arms of Antoine Hall in the middle of his sister's engagement party.
"What the hell are you doing with my wife?" he barks while making his way to the two of them, causing the guests to spectate even more.
"I was just helping your wife; she isn't feeling well, as you can see," Antoine reveals hastily.

Shauna Covington, who is stumbling a bit, sees her husband. "I was telling Antoine -- here we hadn't had sex in a long time -- you ready tonight?"
Max knows he was turning red from the embarrassment of his wife, who has had too much champagne.
Martha Saunders inches closer to her friend. "Max, I think you should take her in the house."

Then Mae Jackson, who puts an arm around her granddaughter, gives a sympathetic look. "It's okay, baby,"
"I wanna stay here," Shauna remarks drunkenly.
Max reaches out to his wife, but she steps back. "I'm not going anywhere.
"Max, get her in the house," Deirdre Covington recommends guardedly.
"I can help her get inside," Antoine suggests
Max puts up one of his hands to defer. "That's not needed; you already have done enough."
Anger rises out of Antoine. "Take care of your wife,"
Max then uses his strength to lift his wife over his shoulder.
Shauna can see and hear the multiple facial reactions and murmurs from the guests, including Courtney, Steven, Esther, Sarah Lynn, Emma, Deirdre, Mala, and Louise.

Will Jackson has a look of compassion on his face. It makes her open her mouth to emit saliva onto his shoes. Max and Shauna then make it into the mansion through the French doors. Will then goes to the bar to get some napkins to wipe his niece's spit from his footwear.
A feeling of confusion enters the atmosphere as people begin to be uncertain of what is happening now.

Courtney Covington goes over to the deejay to request he play anything that can lighten the mood.
"This dance is for couples, so please get out on the floor." The male deejay announces.
People begin getting out in the open dancing with their significant others as Adele's eloquent vocals on the speakers with Lovesong starts playing.
"Care to dance?" Steven Sullivan asks his bride-to-be.
Courtney opens her hand to take his. "With you? always,"
Louise Saunders Lockhart takes a sip of her champagne while Jai Gupta is next to her.
"What just happened back there?" Jai Gupta queries his girlfriend.
"I think I do but don't think it is my place to comment," Louise infers
Jai focuses on the floor with several couples moving to the music. "Do you want to dance?"
Louise shakes her head. "We don't have to,"
Jai folds his arms. "I do. Come on, let's show some of these young people we still know how to two-step."
At first, Louise denies him again though something about his charismatic nature catches her off guard. "Sure, why not,"

The pair moves rhythmically together as they sway back and forth, laying her head on his chest, a move that makes Jai grin with desire which Mala Gupta surveys from the other side near the open bar.

She hadn't heard anything from Daniel, who told her she was going off to deal with some work stuff though she felt something was off about that. She didn't expect to see her former husband dancing with his new girlfriend. Then again, her former husband has always been a good dancer, which gets her to reflect on some of them.
"Are you all right mom," Samuel Gupta wonders
Mala sets her focus on Samuel and Aaliyah, who have arrived over to her. "Yeah, I just wish Daniel did not have to leave."
"Is it just me, or is it kind of weird that first Daniel takes off and now Lynn." Aaliyah Gupta theorizes.
She is wearing a black and white patterned sleeveless jumpsuit she designed herself last fall. A part of her wished she was dancing with her boyfriend. But Lorenzo is spending the holiday weekend in his hometown of Philadelphia courtesy of Daniel, who purchased him a plane ticket.
Samuel raises his eyebrow at his sister's statement. "Tricia also not being here for Courtney and Steven's party doesn't make sense either."
She told him she was going off to Napa to visit some friends. Yet he was beginning to wonder why she didn't postpone the trip?
"One hell of an independence day this has been," Mala replies disappointedly in her British accent.
HILLSDALE COUNTY HOSPITAL
Laying in bed in her hospital room, Jordan McKnight is relieved when a red-haired nurse leaves out of her room after she had written down her latest stats. She wants to be left alone for a while after the last few hours of having her newborn son stop breathing in her arms, to him having to be revived, and having to have a procedure to close a hole in his heart. She has been full of sorrow ever since she gave birth to him.
She can hear someone walking into her room, thinking it is another nurse. "I don't need any more damn nursing right now!"
"Whoa! Call off the firing squad; it's just me," Tricia says calmly.
Jordan's tension begins to ease slightly. "I'm so sorry. I thought you were Nurse Jackie coming back to take my temperature."
Tricia sits down in a chair at her friend's bedside. "How are you feeling?"

"I guess no one came to update you,"
"What is it? Did he?" Jordan couldn't finish her inquest, afraid of the worst outcome.
"No, No, the catheterization was a success; little guy is strong and will be coming home in a few days." Tricia warmly informs her.
Jordan elicits a smirk, but tears feel more immediate. "I think I did something wrong when he was inside of me. That is why he was close to death."

Quickly, Tricia grabs both of her friend's hands supportively. "Not you or anyone caused this. The most important thing is he is alive and is going to live a long life."
Though from her hesitant reaction, Tricia can tell Dr. Wesson's concern is warranted.
"They are letting me leave this godforsaken place tomorrow," Jordan announces relatively optimistically.
Her Obstetrician who is treating her here gave her that information about three hours ago.
"That's great," Tricia concludes happily.
Once again, someone comes into the room, but it is someone they both least expect.
"Hey," Tommy says apprehensively.
"Oh my god! Did something happen?" Jordan asks in a panicked manner.
"He is doing fine," Tommy responds. "Tricia, do you mind if I can talk to Jordan alone?"
Tricia gives her stepdaughter's boyfriend and friend's baby's father an expression of "Are you serious?"
She turns to Jordan, who is staring straight ahead. "Do you want me to leave?"
Jordan nods her head.
Tricia gets out of the chair. "All right, but if you need me. I'll be right outside."
Nearing the door, she emits. "She's been through enough tonight; she doesn't need to know about you finally growing conscious at the last minute." With that, she takes off out of the room, leaving the new parents together.

"What do you want?" Jordan asks lowly

"I know I'm probably the last person you want to see,"
Jordan chortles ruefully. "I had hoped somehow you changed your mind and came to the birth or at least see your son after he was born. But I guess it had to take him almost dying for you to give a damn about him."
Tommy is stunned to hear those words from her even though he deserves to be called by her for his shitty behavior since he found out she was pregnant.
"You're right, "
Jordan finally observes the person whom she had feelings for since she first saw him in high school. The girl back then wouldn't even recognize herself two years later. "Looks like your plan of me going away with the baby aren't on a bit of a pause, huh," she says sarcastically.
Mother and child were supposed to leave the state for California, with Tricia accompanying them to get them settled. Tommy was going to support them financially. They all did not want his father to obtain custody which was going to happen if they remained.

Tommy elevates both of his hands in defeat. "That's not important,"
He sees a wheelchair in the corner of the room, which gives him an idea. "It is someone that we should meet,"
Tommy assists Jordan out of bed into the movable chair. "You all set?" he asks her.
"Yeah,"
He dutifully pushes her out of the room into the hallway, where they go down to the NNICU. One of the doctors coming out of there opens the door for them.
The room had several incubators in them, but it was only one occupied with an infant at the moment.
"There he is," Tommy says
Jordan witnesses that same baby in the incubator hooked up tubes. As they get closer, she can see the bandage where they made the incision through the artery for the cardiac catheterization. Despite seeing his chest moving as he breathes, it doesn't make her grateful. Instead, it makes her whimper as water from her eyes begins to fall.
"Do you want to touch him?" Tommy inquiries nicely
Jordan shakes her head profusely. "You can, uh I want to go back to my room now."
"You sure?"

"I want to go now!" she yells.
Without any argument, Tommy pushes her out of the room, leaving their son to recover alone.
HOME FARM
The night sky begins showcasing colorful fireworks as the deejay is playing the Ray Charles version of America The Beautiful. Many of the guests are beholding the fireworks with wonder and amazement.
Steven has both of his arms wrapped around Courtney as she points to the sky.

Deirdre, who is sipping on another Manhattan, notices Emma and Will our talking to each other. "I'll be damned if Will Jackson hurts my daughter," she says to herself.
Mala is heading out back into the house to leave when she watches Jai and Louise nearby. She tries to ignore the pang of resentment while she proceeds to follow behind her children.
Upstairs in the mansion in their bedroom, Max is still in his clothes, lying down in bed, hearing the fireworks as Shauna is asleep in her dress. The confession of them not having sex is weighing on his mind. Not to mention her acting so obscene due to her getting drunk.
LOCKHART LAKE COTTAGE
The usual two-hour drive ended up only being one hour and forty-five minutes since they left White Oak before the roads became unbearable with traffic.
Lynn flips the lights on in the house. Then the twins put their purses down on the kitchen table simultaneously.
"Ice Cream and Netflix?" Lynn proposes
But when she is about to head to the freezer, she can feel her sister sobbing.
"How could he do this to me?" Tanner cries
Not with a second thought, Lynn puts her sister into a hug. "It's going to be all right," she says
Lynn tries to set aside her guilt of already knowing what is breaking her twin sister's heart.
HILLSDALE COUNTY HOSPITAL
Wearing a plastic hospital smock Tommy comes into the NNICU. He makes his way to the incubator where his son is. He tries to see if he has any of his features. He discovers a crop of blonde hair on his head.
Carefully reaching out with his index finger, he runs it over his chubby cheeks.
He then sees Baby McKnight on the wristband on his arm. Jordan hadn't even given him a name yet.
"Happy Birthday," he whispers to him sweetly.
Jordan felt herself drifting off to sleep for a few minutes when she hears someone's footsteps in the room, thinking that it's Tricia coming back to check on her. She opens her eyes wide yet is disappointed to find the person isn't her friend.
"What do you want?" She asks frustratingly.
"Is it a crime to see the mother of my grandson," Daniel says
Jordan wasn't in the mood to deal with the person trying to take her baby away from her. "Go away!"
"Not so fast," Daniel protests. "I hope you know being a new parent is not easy nor for the faint of heart."
"What are you talking about?"
"Sleepless nights, feedings, changings, doctor appointments, it isn't easy for anyone, trust me."
A part of Jordan wants to throw something at Daniel. But something else tells her he is right that she doesn't have what it takes to be a good mother. "I love my baby, and you will never get him."
"All of the love in the world isn't going to make you a good parent." he insists.
"If you don't leave right now. I will call someone to throw you out." Jordan shouts
"Well, I will let you get some rest," Daniel winks at her.
He then evokes a mischievous sneer on the opposite side of the room. It is no way he would allow her to be a mother to his grandchild in her depressive state.
Jordan turns over in the bed with an explosion of anger and sadness she didn't know how to express.
